“Westie Wednesday” raises funds for youth

Westie-wed-Logo-SM-2“Westie Wednesday” on Wednesday 14 September this year is a “massive community mufti day”!  Massive because we want all of Waitakere to take part in it. Right from pre schools, primary schools, colleges to business workers, people in organisations and service groups.

Mums and Dads, Grandparents, Aunties and Uncles and of course Kids…….

This is a “massive” fundraiser for The Foundation for Youth Development Waitakere (FYD)!

So why would you do this….

The best reason of all – the chance to make a real difference in the lives of West Auckland Kids and their families, their schools and the community of Waitakere...

FYD needs funds to be able to deliver these researched and proven programmes – Kiwi Can, Stars and Project K – to many more children in Waitakere.

Please help us to help our kids and have fun at the same time!

How do you do this?

Simply register your business, person online www.fyd.org.nz/waitakere and we will make contact with you, provide you with some ideas (as if you need any!) and donation boxes to help with the gold coin donation.

If you need further inspiration...
There will be prizes for the best dressed school, business, person etc.

Start thinking about what you could wear or the theme your school could create
  • • Maybe you already have a RWC Team? dress in those colours for the day
  • • Or you might want to dress like the Wests in Outrageous Fortune
  • • Or you might choose your favourite book character
We don’t mind – we just want you to have fun and know that you are investing in the future of Waitakere Kids!!

Thanks for reading this, we hope you will join us on Wednesday 14 September 2011

It’s about Community

It is critical that we continue to help each other as a community. The earthquake in Christchurch has taught us that our community is very important –  not only in times of disaster – but in every day life. Our  young people in Waitakere need to feel like they belong to a great community – one that cares about them and their future.

It’s about identity

It is imperative that whilst Waitakere is part of the Super City, that we do not lose our special community and West Auckland keeps it’s iconic identity as
“Westie’s”. This event is registered as a listed event on the RWC REAL Festival – so we hope to get some visitors from all over the world coming to see Waitakere!

It’s about fun

The FYD Waitakere is the ideal charity to take this fun concept and use it inspirationally to help support the youth of Waitakere and create a fun event that will foster that wonderful spirit that belongs to the people of Waitakere!
