The Don Oliver Youth Sports Foundation is one of the great success stories of Waitakere City. It has delivered year after year and continues to deserve our support.
This dinner is always hugely successful and this year the highlight speaker is Martin Snedden, CEO of the Rugby World Cup. Martin may well have new insights to that great event in 2011but he will also share some of the keys to succeeding in sport – and there are few better qualified than this lawyer, international cricketer, and former CEO of New Zealand Cricket.
See the latest batch of young Waitakere talent with the ability to step onto the world stage, receive their scholarships, and to cheer on the three past recipients who have already qualified to represent this city and country at the Dehli Commonwealth Games – Melissa Ingram, Lauren Boyle and Elizabeth Lamb.
The incomparable Greg Ward is MC and he will be interviewing a selection of past recipients who will share their thoughts on what it takes to succeed. There will be the ever popular live and silent auctions, with the usual fabulous range of items. You may think of that part of the evening as the shearing shed – and its great fun.
The Don Olivers Youth Sports Foundation is the most successful organisation of its kind in New Zealand and has assisted many young Westy athletes onto the world stage – Olympians, national representatives and world champions. It does truly make a difference – with your support.
