All Black great Va'aiga Tuigamala and former mayor of Waitemata city Tim Shadbolt have added their palm prints to the Waitakere Walkway of Fame.
An unveiling ceremony for the 2010 inductees was held at the Waitakere City Council Civic Centre on September 25.
Mr Tuigamala played 19 tests for the national rugby side, scoring five tries, and now runs a funeral parlour in Henderson and owns a gym in New Lynn. He was made a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2008.
Mr Shadbolt, currently the mayor of Invercargill, held the top job for Waitemata from 1983 to 1989 before being voted out when the district amalgamated with the Henderson, Glen Eden, and New Lynn boroughs to form the modern city of Waitakere.
Other additions this year include two new plaques to recognise mayor Bob Harvey and the men and women elected to lead Waitakere over the past 20 years. This includes past and present mayors, councillors and community board members.
The Waitakere City Council started the Walkway of Fame in 2001 to honour famous west Aucklanders.
Previous inductees include All Black coach Graham Henry, actor, writer and television presenter Oscar Kightley, former All Black Michael Jones, Maori Party co-leader Pita Sharples, chief justice and Supreme Court member Dame Sian Elias and musician Neil Finn.
