
Eligibility criteria
The criteria to qualify for entry in the 2011 Westpac Waitakere Business Awards Business Awards are:
General- Any business of any size in Waitakere or Whau ward boundaries is eligible to enter the Awards. Please check the boundary maps for the wards on our website.
- For 2011 we will extend the reach for the Awards into Hobsonville, Riverhead, Kumeu, Huapai, Waimauku, and Woodhill (technically, businesses that operate in what is know as the Rodney Ward). Businesses in these areas can either enter the Business awards in North or West Auckland but cannot enter both. (Insert hyper link to boundary maps already supplied)
- If a business is headquartered in the eligible regions then organisation wide results may be included.
- Definition of headquartered means management function, including majority of management and administrative staff, is based and/or have significant operations.
- If only the branch office is in the eligible regions then only branch results are to be included.
- Organisations must have been trading for twelve months or more as at 31 March 2011.
- Organisations which have previously won an Auckland West Business Category Award are eligible to enter any category other than the category in which they have won.
- If you have been a Supreme Winner of these awards, you are not eligible to enter for three years.
- Additional Award for Finalists –The ICEHOUSE Best Owner Managed Business Award. This award will be made by the judges to the best Owner Managed business. An owner-managed business is one where the owner has a significant equity stake and exercises management control, and the business turnover is more than 2 million per annum.
- Certificates of Distinction may be awarded to finalists who are not category winners but which in the opinion of the judges submitted an outstanding entry.
- The Westpac Supreme Award will be presented to the most outstanding winner of any one or more of the above categories in recognition of all-round business excellence.
Young Business Person
- o Entrants must be 35 or under at 31 March 2011.
- o Entries must be nominated by the business.
- o Entrants must have been working in or running an organisation that has been in operation for at least 12 months at 31 March 2011.
- o Businesses must meet business eligibility criteria above.
- o Previous winners of this category are not eligible to enter in 2011.
- o Entries are as an individual and in addition to the maximum of three categories entered by the business.
These issues may include:
Past, pending or anticipated actions involving directors/shareholders or the company, which have resulted, or would result, in the company’s insolvency, or conviction for a serious offence.
Conditions of entry:
- Each business may enter up to 3 categories.
- All entries must be received by 5pm on Friday 10th June 2011. Send your entry to the Awards Manager.
- All businesses must complete the following template provided. (click here for link)
- Entries must follow criteria set for each category in the format provided on the template for that category.
