As the owner of a very successful exporting company, Jetpatcher director Jim Turnbull has had to compete with some global big guns  - and has emerged grining.

Most satisfying of all, says Turnbull,  is "seeing my machines overseas with ‘Made in New Zealand' written on the side of them".

And this statement is more than just patriotic banter; Turnbull believes it is the character of Kiwis that has made Jetpatcher, which designs and builds machines that repair asphalt, the company it is today."As a little New Zealand company we've succeeded where a lot of big companies have found it difficult - I think that's because people trust us," Mr Turnbull says. "Whatever happens, I don't let people down."

Based on the Concourse in Henderson, Jetpatcher exports to the United Kingdom, United States, Europe, Mexico & South America and the Middle East but its biggest market has by far to date been Australia.No matter where the market is Mr Turnbull says there is a common factor: New Zealanders.

"Mostly around the world we've got New Zealanders working for us because we can do what no one else can - kiwis think differently. In many parts of the world people start panicking if things start and aren't going smoothly. Kiwis just get in there and fix it."
